Hailstone Ranch has been owned and managed by the Langhus family for over three generations. It is a working cattle ranch of some 11.500 acres, which was originally founded by Ole Langhus, a Norwegian immigrant from near to Stavanger.  You can still find some old homesteads on the wide-ranging ranch.  You can see how the original settlers lived, and how their homes looked as the West was first being settled.  The Hailstone Ranch and surrounding area is rich in history.  People back in the "Good Old Days" were driven mostly by a strong desire to improve their standard of living however, their animals always came first as they were vital to their survival.  In an attempt to meet both goals additonal land was acquired whenever possible - and so the Hailstone Ranch grew continually over time.

The roots to the Grandparents' European homeland were further cultivated by his son Sam. In 2005 his son Lee married Barbara, a manager and author from Munich, Germany.  It's this unique mixture of American and German culture that makes our cabin so special.  The best of old and new have been optimally combined for our guests, from the interior decor to our personalized service, in which we are always ready to accommodate any special wishes.

At your request, we can acquire tickets to special events, stock the cabin with your favorite foods, or accompany you when you go shopping, making sure that you get where you need to go without any unnecessary detours.  Our goal is to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible!  Bear in mind that some special arrangements may involve extra planning and effort so be sure to inform us in time.
